The Ziauddin University Student council in collaboration with IEEE Young Professionals Karachi organized a one-day event entitled as “STEP UP: Stepping into the future” on 3rd November 2022 at Link Road Campus of Ziauddin University.
The purpose of STEP was to help students who are about to graduate and enter the professional world by facilitating the transition from student member to young professionals. This was done by introducing opportunities and benefits of IEEE membership at the start of their careers. The event started with a short welcome note by the Prof. Dr Irfan Hyder-Vice Chancellor of Ziauddin University. It was followed by the speaking sessions from our guests which included, Dr. Razia Maroof-Assistant Professor at Sir Syed University, Dr. Muhammad Faisal Khan-Student Activity Committee Chairperson, Mr Adnan K. Chishti- CEO of Health Engineering Solutions Pvt Ltd and lastly, Mr. Mumtaz Hussain Soomro- Chairman IEEE Young Professionals Karachi Section.
In the speaking sessions, the guests mainly focused on how to transition from student to professional. They enlightened the student with many tips and tricks. Not only that, they spoke about the benefits of joining IEEE as well and how one can access variety of affinity programs by just simply becoming a member.
The event was concluded by Dr. Fahad Azim- the Dean of ZUFESTM with a thank you note to all the guests. He also appreciated the students and for organising and taking part in such informative event. He also lauded the efforts of Sir Ashfaq Baloch – branch counsellor IEEE student ZU branch and hoped that he will continue to hold such educative events in the future as well.
