ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION IN MS COMPUTER SCIENCE

The minimum requirements for admission in a Masters degree program are

  1. A degree earned after sixteen years of education in computing or a related discipline,

AND

  1. At least CGPA of 2.0 (on a scale of 4.0) or 60% Marks

The following core courses (maximum 04) are recommended to be completed before entering the MS (CS) program.

  1. Analysis of Algorithms
  2. Assembly Lang. / Computer Architecture
  3. Computer Networks
  4. Computer Programming
  5. Data Structures
  6. Database Systems
  7. Operating Systems
  8. Software Engineering
  9. Theory of Automata

A student selected for admission having deficiency in the above stated courses may be required to study a maximum of FOUR courses, which must be passed in the first two semesters. Deficiency courses shall be determined by the department Graduate Studies Committee, before admitting the student.

A student cannot register in MS courses, unless all specified deficiency courses have been passed.

A student has the option to pursue MS by undertaking either a 6 credit hour MS Thesis.

MS(Computer Science)

The MSCS program is for students who are looking forward to build upon knowledge and skills of computer science. The MSCS takes a step towards advanced courses and topics in the domains of computation theory, algorithms, software engineering, computer networking, intelligent systems and image processing.

There are three MS tracks offering in the field of COMPUTING at ZUFESTM. These specialized streams/tracks and scheme of study are as follows:

  • Core Computer Science
  • Software Engineering
  • Networks and Security

Each MS student has to select four courses from the list of core courses and four or six elective courses from the specialization stream. A student can opt six credit hours research work/thesis instead of two courses from the specialization steam.
