Dr. Samia Tariq, Convener FYP, Department of Civil Engineering, arranged 1^st FYP committee meeting on 28^th November 2020 to decide the mechanism for execution of Batch I FYPs. The main agendas of the meeting were distribution of registration forms to FYP students, mechanism of topic allocation and group formation along with preparation of guidelines for faculty and FYP students. In this connection, a preliminary online session was also conducted by Convener on 10^th December 2020, to device detailed information about FYPs.

On 26^th November, 2020, a faculty meeting was organized by Engr. Syed Faraz Jafri, Chairperson, Department of Civil Engineering. The main agendas of meeting were submission of Spring 2020 course files and schedule of upcoming semester of Engineering program. Furthermore; in order to focus the credibility of online classes, maintenance of lectures on Google Classrooms during Fall 2020 semester was also discussed by him.

An online CPD (0.5) webinar on ‘Assessment and Evaluation in OBE’ was attended by all faculty members of Department of Civil Engineering on 19^th November 2020. The resource person of this seminar was Dr. Iftikhar Azim Niaz, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, COMSATS University, Islamabad. The purpose to execute this webinar was to provide sufficient information in context to assessment and evaluation of PEOs, PLOs and CLOs. The session was helpful in terms of synchronizing subject course files on OBE pattern with more precision and quality oriented. All faculty members appreciated the knowledge gained form this intellectual and informative webinar.

The final exams and vivas of Department were held in accordance with COVID-19 SOPs. The students and teachers maintained separation with each other to ensure social distancing during the examinations. Individuals sitting in classrooms and labs were bound to wear personal protective equipment, such as appropriate masks, and avoid overcrowding all around. BE Civil Engineering (Morning) and BS Civil Technology (Evening) programs have been accomplished successfully by department.

In order to work under the capacity of Departmental Final Year Project (FYP) Committee, a team of faculty members has been deputed as prescribed by Chairperson of the Department. Dr. Samia Tariq (Convener), Engr. Khawaja Sheeraz and Engr. Muhammad Kamran have been nominated to constitute this departmental committee. The committee shall be responsible to follow-up the matters of FYPs in consideration to produce consistent guidelines for entire faculty of Department of Civil Engineering.

Assistant Professor, Engr. Khawaja Sheeraz, passed the 16^th Engineering Practice Examination (EPE) in the field of Transportation Engineering and gained the prestigious title of “Professional Engineer” from Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).

The students displayed mini projects under the capacity of subject Engineering Geology on 29^th October, 2020. Chairperson Engr. Syed Faraz Jafri appreciated the efforts of Lab Engineer Aysha Ahmed and all students. He also advised other faculty members to execute and promote such activities in the next semesters.

The lab activities of Department are being held in accordance with COVID-19 SOPs. The students and teachers maintain separation with each other to ensure social distancing during the lab works. Individuals working in labs are bound to wear personal protective equipment, such as appropriate masks, and avoid overcrowding all around.  Lab activities are arranged to balance the backup of practical classes during previous online sessions.
