Name of event: “ALOHA NOVATO 2.0”.

Venue: CLOCK TOWER RESTAURANT, KARACHI.

Number of attendees: 425 plus

On 31st march 2022, ZUFESTM Student Council held an event “Aloha Novato 2.0” to welcome fresher and bid farewell to seniors.  It was an initiative of morning student council under the leadership and efforts of the Patron Engr. Ashfaque Ahmed Baloch and members of student council.

There were more than 425 students in the event, including all the departments of ZUFESTM. The event began with the recitation of Holy Quran by Waqas Jan, and then National Anthem was played.

The program was hosted by Sufian Sohail, Safwanah Meraj, Fahama Naeem and Hoor-ul-ain. They began the event with welcoming Dean ZUFESTM, Dr. Fahad Azim, Head of Departments, Faculty Members and students. They were amazing hosts, students from different departments of ZUFESTM participated for different performances.

The first performance was tableau drama which was funny and interesting. It was an engaging performance. The second performance was singing, in which students of different departments and entertained the audience by singing. Hassan Siddiqui was special guest in singing as he played the guitar.

Thereafter, the faculty members were given different titles by their students. In the end, the host requested Dr .Fahad Azim to express his views about the event. Later, Sir Shabber, and Engr. Ashfaque Baloch also join him on stage to distribute the awards to the Executive Members of the council for their contribution. Dr. Fahad Azim concluded the event by thanking everyone, especially the guests, for giving their precious time and encouraged students to work hard to have a successful life ahead.

The event was concluded with the serving of dinner to all the participants. Everyone, who attended ALOHA NOVATO 2.0 enjoyed it the most and made their day a memorable one. The executive committee of the student council and volunteers, along with the patron, Engr. Ashfaque Ahmed, worked hard to make this event a success and hoped for better events in the future.

Lab Hazards Training Workshop

IEEE Ziauddin University Student Branch in collaboration with IEEE Young Professionals, Karachi organised a workshop on Laboratory Hazard Training on 22nd of august 2022.

The speaker of the workshop was Muhammad Ali – a Biotechnology student. This workshop was designed to assist in the reduction of risk involved working in the laboratory as safety is essential when working with hazardous chemicals. The session also covered the primary and secondary safety barriers, personal protective equipments, the four biosafety levels, donning and doffing, microbiological safety techniques and what not. Not only theoretical sessions but demonstrations were also given such as how to perform CPR or wear PPEs to have a better understanding of the concepts explained. The workshop concluded via conducting a question and answer session. In short, the workshop gave the attendees an insight into latest laboratory techniques.

The event ended on a high note as it was graced by the presence of ZUFESTM dean Dr Fahad Azim along with faculty members Sir Ashfaque and Dr Fariha. A token of appreciation was also presented to the speaker for his efforts in conducting such an amazing workshop and to show support and praise.

FYP Evaluation 2021- Software Engineering Department

Dec 06, 2021: “FYP Evaluation 2021- Software Engineering Department” was held at
Ziauddin University North Campus to exhibit and evaluate final year projects.
Our very first batch of Software Engineering students working in teams, displayed their
FYPs. A coterie of faculty and academia was invited to evaluate the projects as esteemed
judges.
Chairman of Software Engineering Department, Dr. Sheikh Munaf Rashid, who remained
present extensively, expressed satisfaction and confidence in continuing improvement in
student’s quality of work.

Activity 01:

Departmental OBE Discussion

As per practice, departmental OBE discussion was held on 5th August, 2021 with the consent of Chairperson followed by OBE team. Departmental Coordinator, Engr. Khawaja Sheeraz discussed about the Program Learning Outcomes against BE Civil Engineering and BS Civil Technology programs for executed Spring 2021 session to concerns.

Activity 02:

Admission Discussion by Chairperson

In order to have smooth implementation plan for admission procurement of Fall 2021 session, a meeting was organized by Chairperson, Engr. Syed Faraz Jafri amongst the faculty members on 16th August, 2021. Individual faculty members were assigned with the specific tasks including admission calls, online interviews, data record keeping and similar works.

Activity 03:

Preparation of SAR, BS Civil Technology Program

During this month, a complete and prescribed Self-Assessment Report has been developed by Department of Civil Engineering covering all import academic and administrative aspects of department and Evening program. The report is produced with the entire efforts and team work of department followed by Chairperson, Engr. Syed Faraz Jafri and Incharge Evening Programs, Engr. Khawaja Sheeraz. The report shall be submitted to statutory bodies for onward processing.

Activity 04:

Online Webinar for New Comers, Fall 2021 Batch, Civil Engineering and Technology

An online informative webinar was organized by Chairperson, Engr. Syed Faraz Jafri on 26th August, 2021 for freshers or upcoming batch Fall 2021. This session is dedicated only to get aware the students with the admission procedures in BE Civil Engineering and BS Civil Technology programs. Furthermore, the students took great interest in seeking pertinent information and inquiries from presenter about relevant field. This type of practice ensures about the increase in admissions for departmental programs.

Activity 05:

Faculty Meeting for PEC Accreditation Visit

In continuation with the earlier meetings, another faculty meeting to further rectify the assignments of faculty and staff members was scheduled on 26th August, 2021. Chairperson demonstrated about the evaluation criteria of accreditation board while it was also informed that OBE based accreditation visit is planned on 1st and 2nd September, 2021.

Activity 06:

Mock Visit, Civil Engineering

Dean ZUFESTM, Dr. Fahad Azim with his entire team executed a Mock visit against upcoming PEC accreditation visit for Department of Civil Engineering on 31st August, 2021. The visit is planned in a similar fashion to plant the exact scenarios of PEC team however suggestions were also put forwarded by the team in front of Chairperson.

Activity 07:

CPD Activity Organized by Department of Civil Engineering

On 31st August, 2021, an online CPD activity was proposed by Department of Civil Engineering entitling “Traffic Accidents and Road Safety Engineering”. The instructor from the department was Assistant Professor, Engr. Khawaja Sheeraz (PE). The technical course was based on the emerging areas of Traffic and Transportation Engineering with practical exposure of intervention strategies. Faculty members from entire ZUFESTM had actively participated in the session.
