Activity 01:

Commencement of Spring Session 2021, Civil Engineering and Technology, ZUFESTM

The Spring Session 2021 of Civil Engineering and Technology programs commenced at North and Link Road Campuses of Ziauddin University on 5^th July, 2021. All lectures are being scheduled on regular basis, considering the current pandemic situation of COVID-19.

Activity 02:

Departmental Meeting, Civil Engineering, ZUFESTM

On 7^th July, 2021, a faculty meeting was organized by Engr. Syed Faraz Jafri, Chairperson, Department of Civil Engineering. The main agendas of meeting were upcoming PEC accreditation visit and Departmental Research Growth. Furthermore, smooth execution of Spring 2021 Semester (Engineering and Technology Programs) was also discussed by him.

Activity 03:

Participation of Chairperson Civil Engineering in Online Webinar

An online webinar on “How to prepare Self-Assessment Report” was attended by Chairperson Engr. Syed Faraz Jafri on 19^th July, 2021. The session was organized by QEC and speaker of the session was Mr. Imranullah Khan Marwat, Director Quality Assurance, Higher Education Department, Peshawar. The purpose to execute this webinar was to provide sufficient information in context to understanding the preparation of Self-Assessment Report, and designing objectives and outcomes of the programs.

Activity 04:

Departmental Research Cell Meeting, Civil Engineering, ZUFESTM

On 28^th July, 2021, a Departmental Research Cell Meeting was organized by Dr. Engr. Ruhal Pervez, Convener/ Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering. The main agendas of meeting were production of quality-based research and its promotion in the form of research paper publications. Furthermore, strategies for linkage with Departmental Final Year Projects (FYPs) were also identified by him.

Activity 01:

Appreciation of Dean ZUFESTM for Chairperson Civil Engineering

In appreciation for the entire efforts of Department, Dean ZUFESTM, Dr. Fahad Azim, presented a Laptop to Chairperson, Engr. Syed Faraz Jafri, on 31^st May, 2021. Similar shall be utilized for effective departmental working in accordance with the provided esteemed infrastructure support.

Activity 02:

1^st Board of Studies (BOS) Meeting, Architecture, ZUFESTM

1^st online meeting of Board of Studies (BOS), Architecture, ZUFESTM was held on 1^st June, 2021. Assistant Professor and Secretary BOS, Ar. Quart-ul-Ain Anwar, presented the agendas of meeting accordingly. In addition to prime agendas, the focused areas of meeting were revision and approval of scheme of studies followed by the vision and mission statements of 5 years B. Arch. Program in considerations to PLO mapping under the guidelines of OBE system.

Activity 03:

Participation of Civil Engineering Faculty in Online CPD Activity on CQI Mechanism

An online CPD (0.5) activity on ‘CQI Mechanism’ was attended by all faculty members of Department of Civil Engineering on 7^th June, 2021. The resource person of this seminar was Dr. Awais Javed, Assistant Professor, COMSATS University. The purpose to execute this CPD activity was to provide sufficient information in context to CQI Mechanism as the Outcome Based Education (OBE) practice requires that the Continual Quality Improvement (CQI) process is implemented to continuously improve the quality of teaching and learning of an education program. All faculty members appreciated the knowledge gained form this intellectual and informative online session.

Activity 04:

Departmental Meeting, Civil Engineering, ZUFESTM

On 19^th June, 2021, a faculty meeting was organized by Engr. Syed Faraz Jafri, Chairperson, Department of Civil Engineering. The main agendas of meeting were forthcoming PEC Accreditation Visit for Department and commencement of Spring 2021 semester (Civil Engineering and Technology Programs). Furthermore, strategies for departmental research growth and field visits were also elaborated by him.

Activity 05:

8^th Board of Studies (BOS) Meeting, Civil Engineering, ZUFESTM

8^th online meeting of Board of Studies (BOS), Civil Engineering Department, ZUFESTM was held on 30^th June, 2021. Chairperson and Convener BOS, Engr. Syed Faraz Jafri, chaired the meeting however Assistant Professor and Secretary BOS, Engr. Khawaja Sheeraz presented the same accordingly. The main agendas of meeting were approval of revised content of PLO-7 (Environment & Sustainability) in graduate Programs, approval of new nomenclatures of course codes and approval of the Syllabi of 4 years BS Civil Technology Evening Program.

Activity 06:

Conduction of Mid Term and Final Term Examinations, Summer Program, ZUFESTM

In order to timely conclude the Summer Session of BE Civil Engineering program, Midterm and Final term examinations has been executed in North Campus in accordance with COVID-19 SOPs. Students were also assessed for their Lab/ Viva examinations against the registered courses in Summer program.

The summer classes of the Department commenced on 3^rd May, 2021.All lectures are being held online on regular basis, considering the current pandemic situation of COVID-19.

Activity 02:

Online Readiness Faculty Training, Ziauddin University

Ziauddin University conducted a training program to enhance the online teaching and assessment skills of the ZU faculty members. The Online Readiness Faculty Training was held from 4^th May to 6^th May, 2021. All webinars included in the training sessions aimed to address challenges faced by the faculty members in online teaching during the era of the COVID-19 pandemic. The faculty members of the Department of Civil Engineering actively participated in 3-days online training.

Activity 03:

Charter Inspection and Evaluation Committee (CIEC) Visit, Link Road Campus

On 27^thMay, 2021, Charter Inspection and Evaluation Committee (CIEC) Visit was held in the Link Road Campus of Ziauddin University. Chairperson along with other faculty members of the Department actively participated in the visit. The Committee visited the Department of Civil Engineering including classrooms and Civil Engineering laboratories followed by the scrutiny of documentation by expert.

Activity 01:

Institutional Performance Evaluation Visit, Clifton Campus, Ziauddin University

On 30^th March, 2021, Institutional Performance Evaluation Visit was conducted in the Clifton Campus of Ziauddin University by expert members and competent authorities. Chairperson Engr. Syed Faraz Jafri and Assistant Professor Engr. Khawaja Sheeraz actively participated in the Evaluation Visit as representatives from Department of Civil Engineering. Concerned academic and administrative documents of department were presented in front of the panel for further recommendations and guidelines.

Activity 02:

PCATP Virtual Zero Visit, Architecture, ZUFESTM

The Virtual Zero Visit of PCATP was held on 1^st April, 2021. Dean ZUFESTM Dr. Fahad Azim participated in the meeting along with Faculty of Architecture. The meeting was executed to get approval of PCATP in order to launch B. Arch. Program at Link Road Campus of Ziauddin University. PCATP Team of Inspectors presented their observations and comments after the presentation given by Dr. Samia Tariq and mutual discussion.

Activity 03:

Projects Display, Department of Civil Engineering, ZUFESTM

On 2^nd April, 2021, Lecturer Mushtaque Ali and Lab. Engineer Asjad Alam organized the projects display session for respective Civil Engineering students. Chairperson Engr. Syed Faraz Jafri and other faculty members of Department attended the session actively. Students explored their work to the Faculty followed by the queries of participants. Faculty members presented their reviews about the projects along with the suggestions for further improvements.

Activity 04:

Conduction of Final Exams and Lab Vivas (Fall 2020), Civil Engineering and Civil Technology Programs, ZUFESTM

The Final Examinations and Lab Vivas of Civil Engineering and Technology programs (Fall 2020) were successfully accomplished during the month of April, 2021 at Link Road and North Campus respectively in accordance with COVID-19 SOPs. The students and teachers maintained separation with each other to ensure social distancing during the examinations. Individuals sitting in examination rooms were bound to wear personal protective equipment, such as appropriate masks, and avoid overcrowding all around

Activity 05:

Final Year Project (FYP) Mid Presentations, Batch I Civil Engineering, ZUFESTM

Convener FYP Committee Dr. Samia Tariq and Secretary Engr. Khawaja Sheeraz organized FYP Presentations for Batch I Civil Engineering Students on 15^th and 16^th April, 2021. Chairperson Engr. Syed Faraz Jafri, committee members and deputed observant(s) reviewed the progress of students and shared suggestions with them for final execution and report submission.

Activity 01:

Lab Equipment Training, Civil Engineering

The vendor from Electrical Engineering Services (EES) visited the Department on 1^st and 2^nd March, 2021 and conducted training of rest of the lab equipment, including Wheel Tracker along with its Compactor. Lab Supervisor Mr. Syed Mehfooz, and Lab Attendants Mr. Muhammad Bilal and Mr. Hasan Ahmed actively participated in the training session followed by deputed Lab Engineers.

Activity 02:

Approval of Prime Agendas in BOS and BOF, Architecture, ZUFESTM

Prime academic agendas related to Architecture domain were approved in 7^th BOS on 2^nd March, 2021 through electronic resolutions followed by its required approval in 10^th BOF on 16^th March, 2021 in order to further channelize the respective program.

Activity 03:

Faculty Discussion, Civil Engineering, ZUFESTM

On 9^th March, 2021, a faculty discussion was organized with entire faculty by Engr. Syed Faraz Jafri, Chairperson, Department of Civil Engineering. The main agenda of discussion was preparation for the visit of Vice Chancellor to Link Road Campus. Chairperson assigned duties to the concerned faculty and staff for the same.

Activity 04:

Visit of Vice Chancellor to Department of Civil Engineering, Link Road Campus

Prof. Dr. Syed Irfan Haider (VC Ziauddin University) visited Link Road Campus on 15^th March, 2021. Chairperson Engr. Syed Faraz Jafri demonstrated lab activities performed in Civil Engineering Laboratories to the visitors. Vice Chancellor also interacted with the faculty and had a motivational discussion with students.

Activity 05:

Participation of Faculty, Staff and Students in Sports Festival 2021

Faculty, Staff and Students of the Department actively participated in the Sports Festival held on 16^th and 17^th March, 2021. Civil Engineering Team won the Foosball Tournament and was awarded with a trophy (Exhibit 3). Civil Engineering teams also became Semi Finalist in Cricket and Runner-Up in Futsal tournaments.

Activity 06:

Field Visit of 3^rd and 4^th Batch, BE Civil Engineering Students at Link Road Campus – Existing Construction Site

A field visit of 3^rd and 4^th Batch Students was organized by Lab Engineers, Engr. Asjad Alam, Engr. Farooq Ahmed and Engr. Dhanik Vikrant on 18^th March, 2021. Students visited Swimming Pool and associated construction work zone at Link Road Campus, gained a valuable insight into the Civil Engineering industry and enhanced their understanding of how taught construction principles are applied in practice. The visit accomplished with full protocols of safety measures and use of safety gadgets.

Activity 07:

Participation of Final Year Students in Guest Lecture

Final Year, Civil Engineering Students (1^st Batch) attended the Guest Lecture on Entrepreneurship in North Campus, ZUFESTM; delivered by Mr. Umer Jilani (MD Safetech International, MD Zainab Medical Centre, Business Consultant) on 24^th March, 2021. The key points of the Lecture included, but not limited to, how to become an entrepreneur with establishing a business on very less investment.
