This seminar was organized by the efforts of IEEE ZU Student Branch, ZUFESTM Council and Ms. Lalarukh Jamzadi from the Architecture department and hosted by Ms. Shiza Ali of BS Biotechnology, Batch-2. Ms. Anum Zulfiqar Zafar, who is our esteemed guest, is a clinical psychologist/counsellor who has extended her services for 4 years in the field of Psychology. Her expertise lies in counselling, psychotherapy, mainly CBT, REBT, CCT. She also deals with anxiety, depression, stress management, social counselling, and a range of other various mental illnesses. Currently she is affiliated with Institute of Mind Sciences and giving services as a Clinical Practitioner. In conclusion, the seminar was a good event where Zufestm students learned about why counselling is important especially in this time, where everyone is struggling with anxiety and depression. Also, they got a good understanding about the importance of psychotherapy in the field of psychology. The faculty members Dr. Saad (Chairperson Biomedical Engineering Department), Engr. Ashfaque Baloch (Patron Student Council and IEEE ZU Branch Counsellor), and Ms. Lalarukh Jamzadi (Lecturer Architecure Department), also attended this seminar. By the end of the seminar Dr. Saad presented the token of appreciation to our guest speaker Ms. Anum Zulfiqar Zafar.

Department of Software Engineering, ZUFESTM organized a “Digital Awareness Workshop” by Mr. Faraz Hussain Khan, Workshop facilitator, Co-founder of Monet DT Pvt. Ltd. Indeed, it was a very informative workshop for students with practical knowledge. The Chairperson Software Engineering Dr. Sheikh Muhammad Munaf extended a warm welcome to all the participants in the hall. Then Mr. Faraz Hussain Khan gave a brief account on the agenda items to be discussed. After that he discussed the benefits and

application of topics which are:

• Digital Marketing
• Affiliate Marketing
• Facebook Ads
• Google Ads
• Crypto Currency

At the end Dr. Munaf, Chairperson Software Engineering Department, ZUFESTM also appreciated the efforts of Mr. Faraz Hussain Khan and presented the token of appreciation to him. The department would also like to thank Dr. Munaf Rashid for his guidance and support to conduct this workshop successfully.

Inauguration of ZU IEEE Student Branch

On the 15^th of October 2021, Ziauddin University held an official inauguration of their new IEEE student branch at their ZUFESTM, North Campus. Conducted along with the global IEEE Day, the event was hosted by the students of ZUFESTM and the IEEE Student Activity Committee (SAC).

The event was attended by counselors and chairpersons of many other student branches in Karachi and included interactive sessions with the Dr. Muhammad Shahab Siddiqui Chair, IEEE Membership Development, Dr. Muhammad Faisal Khan, Chair, IEEE SAC, Mr. Rafay Shaikh, Section Student Representative followed by team building exercises and speeches from the Dean Dr. Fahad, the heads of departments Dr. Saad and Dr Munaf, the counsellor of the IEEE Ziauddin University Student Branch Engr. Ashfaque Baloch and the Student Branch Chair Ms. Batool Khan. At the end, along with a networking session, dinner was served and an inaugural cake was cut.

REPORT OF UGRAD SEMINAR

NAME OF EVENT: GLOBAL UNDERGRADUATE EXCHANGE PROGRAM GUIDANCE SESSION

DATE OF EVENT: 13^TH SEPTEMBER, 2022

VENUE: ZUFESTM LINK ROAD CAMPUS

NUMBER OF ATTENDEES: 100+

On the 13^th of September, 2022, the Student Council of ZUFESTM had conducted a seminar at ZUFESTM Link Road Campus, for all the potential students that aspire to go the United States as an exchange student. This event was held under the leadership and efforts of the Patron Engr. Ashfaque Ahmed and IEEE council members of ZUFESTM.

The speaker, Miss Myra Aslam Qureshi student of BS Biomedical Engineering, currently, in semester 6, inspired many students from semesters 1-6 to take part in the GLOBAL UNDERGRADUATE EXCHANGE (UGRAD) program in Pakistan which is administered by the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP). The Global UGRAD-Pakistan program offers cultural and academic exchange through a non-degree program for a semester at a university in the U.S.

She applied for this program when she was still in her 4^th semester and was amongst the 138^th fortunate students that got selected applicants out of the 16,000 applicants from across the globe.  The session had all the important details such as who can apply, when to apply, what documents are needed, what are the facilities and benefits of the Global Undergraduate Exchange program. More importantly, she motivated female students to apply for this program because for Myra, this program changed her life and gave her a true experience of being independent in a foreign country. It was a fully-funded exchange semester, making her the first student to be accepted from Ziauddin University, North campus.

She attended the University of South Dakota (USD) in Spring 2022 as an international exchange student and cultural ambassador under the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD), sponsored by the U.S Department of State. Over there, she studied Introduction to statistics, Introduction to research, United States History II, and Technology in care delivery at USD and achieved straight A’s (4.00/4.00) in all four courses. She also completed 21 hours of community service as a part of the program and traveled to several states in the US. In addition to that, she took part in different STEM-based activities at USD. As the cultural ambassador, she represented the beautiful and vibrant culture of our beloved country at the Vermillion Rotary Club and cleared their doubts about Pakistan.

She wishes this opportunity to come true for other students as well. Moreover, a very interactive Question and Answer session occurred after the presentation. Proving that it was a great initiative for students because this seminar gave them a good understanding of what an international exchange program looks like.

NAME OF EVENT:  TUG OF WAR’22

DATE OF EVENT: 5th SEPTEMBER, 2022

TIME OF EVENT: 10:00am-1:00 pm

VENUE: ZIAUDDIN UNIVERSITY NORTH NAZIMABAD CAMPUS

On 5th September 2022, ZUFESTM Student Council held a tug of war competition at Ziauddin university north campus. This event was held under the leadership and efforts of the Patron Engr. Ashfaque Ahmed, Executive body and other council members.

The teams from different programs of ZUFESTM took part in the competition included; biomedical engineering, food sciences technology, BBA, Electrical engineering, Software engineering and Civil engineering.

From each department separate teams of boys and girls were created, in which each had a minimum of 8 students.

The final match for female team was against the Biotechnology and Food Science department resulting in a quick victory for the Biotechnology team.

On the other hand, after a series of tough competition between the boys team of Electrical Engineering and BBA made it to the final. It was a very tough and interesting round in which Electrical Engineering team won. The event ended on a high note as it was graced by the presence of ZUFESTM Dean Dr Fahad Azim, who distributed awards to the winning and runner up teams. He also appreciated and encouraged the other teams who participated.
